Bob or anyone ... what device are people using this service for?

I'm trying to use this service with a gps tracker.  I bought another one that programs differently from the cheap one that required a phone number.  However now this one programs without a phone number, but to use it to send back the text of location, you have to call it.   Is there a way to use this device?  It is a TK103B.   There are videos on youtube if you want to see how programing is.   If this is a no go, what gps tracker device will this service work with?   Please help, Justin

Hi Justin,

Thank you for using the support community. The gps tracker devices have been used within the Aeris Network. The device is to be configured with our assigned APN through use of terminal or SMS. Also, these devices are set-up with dynamic IP address.
Please reference documentation for sending and receiving text with AerFrame API:

Kind regards,
Aeris Customer Support

ok great I just did this and I have a new problem.   I got a at&t gophone to activate my sim card and I noticed when it had the at&t sim card the phone had over half full signal inside our shop.   When I put the aeris sim in, the signal when as low as possible and blinked no signal some.   It also says at top of phone T-Mobile/Aeris now and is roaming.   I noticed on the coverage map it shows at&t so why did the signal drop at all?   Same phone, same location in shop.   So I installed in the GPS Tracker and the red light will not show any connection to GSM service.  I also carried the unit outside to receive the most signal possible and cannot connect.   I know the gps tracker is working because I placed the at&t sim in the tracker and the red light blinked inside the shop showing signal.   Thanks, Justin

Hi Justin,

What type of Aeris SIM do you have? It appear it is a GSM Global SIM but please confirm. Can you provide the SIM ICCID number or your account information? If this is a global GSM SIM then the device should latch onto a T-Mobile USA carrier. There is no AT&T coverage for this type of SIM. If it is an LTE SIM then AT&T services are allowed. Also, testing an Aeris SIM should be placed in an unlocked phone.

Kind regards,
Aeris Customer Support.

It is 8918500016042727291 sim.  I called TMobile and they don't have a tower in my half of the state and use at&t as a back up and he said at&t can cut back the signal to tmobile customers to give at&t customers priority.  I had to cut the sim card to fit inside the phone to activate and it is an unlocked phone, then I purchased an adapter to make back large sim size to fit in the gps.   I did notice when using the phone with the aeris sim, I could not text out.   It did receive the text from my control center under my account.  I'm still unsure if this service will work for my gps tracker.   It uses no data but receives a text and responds with  a text with its location.   I need help either using this tracker or knowing a different tracker to buy that works with this service.

Justin,
I can not locate this device ICCID on our portal. Can you tell us the name of the account this should be listed under? Also, Aeris provides AT&T services only with the LTE SIMs and not for this Global SIM. Is this device located in the U.S.? I apologize for the questions but I may need to refer you to a sales rep.

Kind regards,
