connecting to raspberry pi using aeris sim

I have successfully configured raspberry pi using Huawei e303 modem & aeris neo simcard.
I see the sim registered & got IP address on aeris device portal.

But I can't ping the IP address or ssh into raspberry pi using the same IP address.  What am I missing here?

Hi Bob,

I am using wvdial/pppd to connect modem. right now it got 10.136.14.115 as IP address.

I am trying to ping this IP from another machine connected to internet. Just realized that the IP address received by pppd is private IP so this looks like the reason.

How do I get a public IP address for the sim?

Hi Jignesh,

The Neo connectivity service denies access to connected devices from external sources. This is an M2M security feature designed to protect
connected devices from potentially harmful network activity.

You can ping your device from the portal (provided you enable ICMP ping response from radio) or use the AerFrame API to communicate with it via SMS.

Regards,

Bob
