Device data not showing up in dashboard

I recently received my first batch of SIMs. I provisioned one of the SIMs (easy) and configured my cellular device to use the Neo APN, neo.iot.net, (no problems). My device is happily sending a small amount of data every 15 minutes or so. Success!

Only I don't see any of this data traffic in Neo's dashboard. Nothing. Neo acts like I'm not sending data. I can confirm in my own database server application the data is flowing.

I thought the data usage display would be 'real-time' (or close to it). What's broken? Neo or my expectations?

Hi Todd

You should see activity in the Dashboard within minutes. I checked the transaction logs for your device and can see 5 separate data sessions today. Are you still experiencing the problem?

Steve

Yes, still problems. Just checked the dashboard--no data. SIM ending in 4501 is sending data every 15 minutes around the clock. The data are small: DNS lookup, one UDP packet out from device, one UDP packet back to device. Whole session should be less than 1KBytes. Device shuts down the cellular module, waits 15 minutes, rinse, lather, repeat.

I've opened a case with Aeris operations to investigate. I'll provide an update once I have some information from them.

Hi Todd,

Can you confirm whether or not you can see device transactions on the Device Diagnostics page? You should be able to see the data session transactions in the table at the bottom of the page.

Steve

Yes! The transaction table has data. Still no data on the Daily Usage chart.

I'm surprised to see so much data coming back towards my device. It almost makes me wonder if the table titles are swapped. Unless Aeris is sending requests for diagnostic data...

Hi Todd,

I have some feedback for you and I apologize because I my earlier statement was misleading.

For the Usage Trend Chart on the dashboard the information is updated at the end of the day (midnight GMT) so you will only see changes in the charts once a day. The good news is we are rolling out a new feature this month so that the charts will be updated more often so that at most the information will be no older than 10 minutes.

The "Devices In Use" and the "Service Status" charts on the dashboard are updated near-real time.

The transaction data on the device diagnostics tab is near real time and should be updated in seconds to minutes. This provides the best visibility for troubleshooting.

Just to confirm Aeris does not send diagnostic requests to devices.

Best Regards,
Steve

Still not seeing any chart data. My device has been sending data for more than a week. No dashboard data. No Daily Usage data as a drill down to a specific SIM. Only see transaction details in table form (very useful for diagnostics as you say).

Thanks for confirming Aeris is not sending data to my device.

I have provided your feedback into the operations team as you should expect to see data usage reflected in the charts if you have been sending data for a week.

Best Regards
Steve

Any update on this issue? I still don't see data in my charts. I've provisioned more SIMs (two different sessions) Don't see data for any of the 5 SIMs I have active.
