I am trying to create an application for sending SMS to our devices.

I get this error after I hit send.

<html><head><title>Apache
Tomcat/7.0.41 - Error report</title><style><!--H1
{font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:22px;} H2 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:16px;} H3 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:14px;} BODY {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:black;background-color:white;} B {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;} P {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;background:white;color:black;font-size:12px;}A {color : black;}A.name {color : black;}HR {color : #525D76;}--></style> </head><body><h1>HTTP Status 401 - Unauthorized</h1><HR size="1" noshade="noshade"><p><b>type</b> Status report</p><p><b>message</b> <u>Unauthorized</u></p><p><b>description</b> <u>This request requires HTTP authentication.</u></p><HR size="1" noshade="noshade"><h3>Apache Tomcat/7.0.41</h3></body></html>

here is my json payload.

{"applicationName":"rtAerisSMS",
"applicationShortName":"rtcAeris",
"applicationTag":"aerframe",
"description":"A sample AerFrame application"
}

Thanks for your help.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the post. About 3/4 of the way down in the html code you provided there is this string: HTTP Status 401 - Unauthorized, which suggests the URL you're using is incorrect. Most likely, the Account ID or Account API Key you supplied is the problem. This screen shot provides an example:

For more information please reference our AerFrame tutorial.

Bob,

Thanks for your reply.

Is there a way for me to show the url line without exposing it to the world?  I got the account number and account API key as shown in the manual.  no braces, no extra characters.

I just tried it now and got a new error as shown below.

thanks

Mark

Mark,

Can you provide a screen shot that blurs your account ID and API key or fill those fields with x's and take a screen shot?

Bob

Mark,

You've selected Clear Device Registration in the Request field. You need to select Create SMS Application.

Mark,

The screen shot is really blurry. Just to confirm, your Account ID ends in 04 and your API key ends in fb4858. Is that correct? Error 401 usually points to a problem with one of those values so please double-check them, especially the API key.

Bob

Sorry about the blur.  Have a better shot now.

Yes, they ends in 04 and in fb4858.

Here is the result I get.

<html><head><title>Apache Tomcat/7.0.41 - Error report</title><style><!--H1 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:22px;} H2 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:16px;} H3 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:14px;} BODY {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:black;background-color:white;} B {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;} P {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;background:white;color:black;font-size:12px;}A {color : black;}A.name {color : black;}HR {color : #525D76;}--></style> </head><body><h1>HTTP Status 401 - Unauthorized</h1><HR size="1" noshade="noshade"><p><b>type</b> Status report</p><p><b>message</b> <u>Unauthorized</u></p><p><b>description</b> <u>This request requires HTTP authentication.</u></p><HR size="1" noshade="noshade"><h3>Apache Tomcat/7.0.41</h3></body></html>

Would you be able to try it there with my credentials?

Thanks for your help

Mark

Mark,

I updated a configuration setting on your account that I believe was causing the 401 error. You should be able to proceed now.

Great news Mark! Good luck with the rest. I'm going to close this thread as resolved. Just open a new one if you have additional questions.
