Need help connecting to network on a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini

I am a new intern at a firm and I've been given the task of activating new Aeris SIM cards in several android devices. I know little about the service, so I may need simple instructions. I am using a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini running android. I need to be given/directed to instructions on how to connect to the Aeris network on this device. I have entered the proper APN info (as far as I'm aware) and the device will still not connect.

Hi Austin,

Please visit the Aeris Resource Center for instructions on how to access the Neo connectivity service.

Thank you for the quick response, Bob. I should have mentioned that I visited these resources, and followed all steps from Assigning and Provisioning to programming the APN. At this point it tells me that I should be connected to the network, but I'm not. I still have no network connection. I need to be directed from here as to what the issue might be.

Hi Austin,

In order for the community to offer assistance you need to provide some details. For example:

  • your device's ICCID
  • description of how you're attempting to connect
  • screen shot of error message(s) or other system alerts
Also, an explanation of what you mean when you say, "At this point it tells me that I should be connected to the network."

Regards,
Bob

ICCID: 89185013121700623392

I insert the SIM card into the device, and there is no network connection. I have entered in the proper APN (neo.iot.net) and select it as my APN. The Aeris Resource Center instructions say that after I have programmed the APN, I should then be able to access the Neo Connectivity service. However, nothing changes after following these steps. I receive no error messages or messages of any kind for that matter. No option to connect to the network is visible.

In the available networks screen, this is all that is displayed after I select the NEO APN and reset the device.

Hi Austin,

Select T-Mobile and your device should register on the network.

Bob

Hi Austin,

Without having the device in hand I can offer some suggestions:

  • Your handset might be locked to AT&T, in which case it won’t register on Neo
  • Do you have a different, unlocked handset you can use for testing (whether or not the Sony Ericsson handset is locked)?
  • Try registering with a different Neo SIM in the handset
  • Try registering with a T-Mobile US SIM in the handset
Regards,
Bob

*The handset is definitely unlocked.
  • Try registering with a different Neo SIM in the handset
I have tried another Neo SIM and I get the same results. All SIM cards are registered.
  • Try registering with a T-Mobile US SIM in the handset
The handset registers when I use a T-Mobile US SIM, but will not register with the Neo SIM using the same settings.

Just to further update the community, I attempted to register another unlocked handset on the network with no luck. IMEI: 356525042735320

To be clear, the steps I took were as follows:

-I inserted a registered SIM card from the pack I received
-Programmed the APN to neo.iot.net and saved the new APN
-Searched for available networks and got T-Mobile and AT&T to appear
-Selected T-Mobile and was given the same message of "Your SIM card does not allow connection to this Network"
