I am having trouble sending and receiving texts from the neo sim using AT commands. I can successfully send a text from the diagnostics page of the website, but even though outgoing texts from the module show up as sent on the diagnostics page, they never arrive at the destination number.

Hi Jared,

Thanks for the post. Please provide the last 4 digits of your SIM's ICCID so we can offer some suggestions.

Also,
have you verified registration status on the Devices tab? It's always a
good idea to verify that your device is powered on and registering.

Regards,
Bob

The last four digits are: 7976 The device registers normally within a few minutes after power up, and I am able to send a test text from the diagnostics page.

Hi Jared,

Everything looks OK in the network logs. How are you consuming the SMS you are sending from the device? Although you can send an SMS from the Diagnostics Page you cannot receive an SMS on the page. Mobile Originated SMS must be consumed through the AerFrame APIs (http://neo.aeris.com/resources/apis/aerframe-2/) or through the SMPP interface (http://neo.aeris.com/resources/apis/smpp/).
If you are not using one of these then the quickest way to get up and running may be to follow the getting started tutorial which shows you how to setup a Chrome REST plugin to send and receive SMS (http://neo.aeris.com/resources/accessing-the-aeris-network/send-receive-sms-api/).
Best Regards,
Steve

Thanks Steve, I was under the impression that messages sent from the aeris sim would be sent directly to the destination mobile device. Is there functionality within the REST interface to simply forward text from the device to a phone? I need to be able to notify a mobile number from the device I'm developing.

Hi Jared,

MO-SMS to a handset outside of the network isn't supported due to M2M-related security features built-in to Neo. It's possible support for MO-SMS to an external device will be added to Neo in the future but it's not on the current road map.

Bob
